Field Work

PROJECT SPONSORS

Participants will work with public agencies and natural resource managers to complete projects that impact the local environment. This is one of the main ways that participants learn about Skamania County and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Project sponsors work alongside participants to gain first hand knowledge about the importance of their work. Some of the projects will include trail building and maintenance, habitat restoration, noxious weed removal, tree planting & pruning, and many more.

OUTDOOR & HANDS-ON PROJECTS IN SKAMANIA COUNTY

The work that FYS has completed over the years has helped maintain protect, and transform Skamania County. Participants can return to the project sites years later to admire their hard work and share their experiences with others. For many of our participants, FYS is one of the first experiences they have had the opportunity to take pride in their accomplishments. Participants are able to transfer that sense of satisfaction and pride in a job well done to situations for the rest of their lives. All of this hard work helps participants develop valuable and transferable skills they can apply to school, family, sports, and future employment.
