COVID Update - December 7

Dear Stevenson-Carson families,

I updated you late last week about our need to close school district offices and buildings. Case numbers of COVID-19 in our county increased significantly over the weekend, and many staff members are either experiencing symptoms of illness, are a close contact of someone exposed to COVID-19, or awaiting test results. There is no confirmed exposure to COVID-19 for any students at this point. I am working closely with community health and will notify families immediately if that happens. For now, we remain hopeful that we moved to only remote learning for students in time to avoid exposure .

All district offices and buildings will remain closed until after the winter break. This makes it possible to keep our staff members safe and healthy. Staff are working full time, although remotely, and remain available to assist our community as always. Email is the fastest method, but we do have the technology to receive voice messages remotely. I know you share my concern and support for making the health of all, adults and students, a top priority. For this reason, food distribution will continue as advertised. We realize this is an essential need and families rely on this service. Contact our Food Services Manager at [email protected] if you need information. If you have any challenges with accessing instruction, reach out to teachers, building secretaries, or principals and you will be assisted promptly.

Thank you for your remarkable support and understanding. It is my hope that we return to serving our community in-person early in the new year.

In Health,

Ingrid Colvard
Superintendent
