School Closure Info

During the winter we will be closely monitoring the weather conditions. The Transportation Supervisor will be on the road in the early hours to assess driving and walking conditions. Information will be compiled and reported to the Superintendent, who will make the decision - based on the best available information at the time. Everyone who lives in the Gorge knows that weather conditions vary from area to area, can be unpredictable, and can change without warning. We understand that changes in our schools' schedules can disrupt family schedules and we appreciate your patience during these weather situations. While we know our students and families are best served when we are open, our top concern is the safety of our students and staff.

If a decision is made to change the school schedule, every effort will be made to communicate that change to families. A decision will generally be made by 5:00 a.m. and notifications will begin at that time. Flash Alert will be activated, which will notify all the news media in the Portland-Vancouver area as well as in the Gorge. If you would like to receive emails regarding school closures via Flash Alert, you can sign up at Our automated telephone system, School Messenger, will call all families beginning at 6:00 a.m. with the phone numbers on record with the schools. Please make sure that home and emergency contact phone numbers are up to date and on file with the schools. In order to avoid overloading our phone systems, please do not contact schools or bus garage regarding weather conditions and closures.

Your patience and understanding during bad weather days is very much appreciated.
