The Stevenson-Carson School District is hosting several focus group meetings related to the search for a new superintendent. The new superintendent is expected to begin on July 1st.

Northwest Leadership Associates, a search firm specializing in educational leaders, has been contracted to assist in the superintendent search on behalf of the school board. They will conduct the focus group meetings, allowing attendees to be more comfortable expressing opinions.

Throughout Monday and Tuesday, January 6th and 7th, the focus groups held will include staff, students, and community. All sessions are expected to take less than one hour. These focus groups will assist the search firm in identifying trends that should be considered during the superintendent search and selection.

The focus group for community members will be held at the Stevenson High School Library on Monday, January 6th, beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The district's current superintendent, Karen Douglass, will move on to something new at the end of the current school year after having served five years in the position and over 30 years with the school district. Early notice was given to the school board to provide an advantageous window of time to complete a thorough superintendent search.
